Renee has taught art students both privately and in many prominent art schools including the School of Visual Arts in NYC and The Armory, as well as the Boca Raton Museum Art School in South Florida.
She enjoys sharing the many techniques that she has learned over the years. She says, “A transformation happens for students when they learn to ‘see’ things they never noticed before.”
Renee is a professional artist whose artwork has been in 65+ museums, galleries, and juried art shows. She has painted portraits for many famous people including Vanilla Ice, Mayor Ed Koch, and the Grand Dames of Palm Beach. Renee has been on television and radio, interviewed for many articles, and has done a series of art videos that can be seen on YouTube.
She has enabled eight young art students to get scholarship funds through her work as the local Visual Arts Chairwoman of National Society of Arts and Letters. Renee painted 21 oil portraits for her Palm Beach charity, “Portrait of a Woman” where five women community leaders are honored each year, with the monies raised going to a local charity. In addition, she was very active in several charities using her artwork and creativity to enhance South Florida.
Teaching Style and Approach
Renee teaches the class as a whole and also individualizes her teaching to bring out the best in everyone. She focuses on the basics of art in her teaching – values, positive negative space, perspective, light sources, shadows, etc.
In her classes, Renee lectures, demonstrates, and encourages a lot of class participation. Props are always used, as well as models, mirrors, busts, skeletons, and the Planes Head. Books are used as reference sources, as are videos.
Renee’s classes have a feeling of fun comradery, with lots of laughing as well as learning. She says, “Creativity is enhanced in a fun learning atmosphere.”
