She says about teaching: "I have a passion for education and feel a great sense of fulfillment in the success of my students in their various endeavors." Her greatest strength as a teacher? Practicing empathy.

She lives in Snoqualmie with her husband. Her two adult children live in Los Angeles and San Francisco. She explains how her parenting relates to teaching students by saying, "Sharing the high school and college experience with them has given me a greater understanding of the stress and demands on students today."

Naila's Teaching Style & Approach

Naila's teaching style is interactive. She prefers to question students along the way and have them participate in the experience. She is empathetic, respectful, and informal, which sets the tone for students' behavior.

If students present different paths to a solution, she will explore each path with them. She explains, "Even if a path is not viable, I like to explore it just to clarify the reasoning."

In terms of methods, during online classes she shares her screen using OneNote to draw and solve problems. During in-person classes she uses the white board to make visual presentations.
