Heather Zager

Heather Zager discovered her interest in sewn product development after enrolling at Seattle Central College in 2014 in the Apparel Design & Development program, an experience that quickly clarified her career direction. She went on to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Apparel Design & Development before launching her business MADE Apparel Services in 2020.

Over the past 10 years, Heather has worked with founders, growing brands, and established companies to bring new ideas to life through patternmaking, sewn samples, grading, tech packs, and manufacturing support. Along the way, she developed her own patent-pending invention, Zcissors, providing firsthand experience with the challenges of bringing a new product to market. Creating MADE Apparel Services also deepened her appreciation for entrepreneurship and small business development while broadening her understanding of both the creative and business sides of product development.

When Heather enrolled at Seattle Central, she never imagined she would one day return to teach there. As an instructor in the Apparel Design & Development program, she enjoys sharing practical industry knowledge and helping students understand not only how sewn products are constructed, but also why thoughtful planning and technical decision-making contribute to successful development.

Heather's Teaching Style

Heather strives to create a welcoming and encouraging classroom where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and exploring new approaches. She says, "I understand that every student brings a different level of experience, so I work to meet people where they are while helping them build confidence with each new skill."

Her goal is for every student to leave each class with practical techniques, increased confidence, and a strong foundation for professional alteration work.
