Debra McKinney

Ms. McKinney is an opera singer with a background in education. She holds two bachelor’s degrees and studied at the Eastman School of Music for her Master’s degree.

Debra's professional experience includes singing abroad in Germany as well as the U.S. while keeping a private studio for voice students.

She currently can be found as a Teaching Artist at the Seattle Opera as well as their Groups Sales Coordinator.

When she is not involved in music, Debra likes to crochet, go on walks, hike, go on road trips, visit beaches, play volleyball and spend time with her family and friends.

Debra's Teaching Style & Approach

Debra likes to use a variety of formats to keep students engaged. Her classes tend to revolve around a lecture with group discussion, supported with visual aids, videos, music, and sometimes tours when possible. 

She encourages students to get involved and says, "I want students to feel comfortable participating and asking questions."
