Christina Flevaris

Person with light skin color stands on staircase looking upwards with a smile, with head in hand and arms resting on wooden railing.

Christina is excited to share her excitement for learning and skill development in carpentry. She grew up surrounded by handy people – carpenters, engineers, “gear heads,” artists, sewists, and fixers. When she moved to Seattle from her hometown outside Boston, Christina learned the hard way that she should have paid closer attention to the work that was always in progress on her childhood home. With a long list of home maintenance projects, she took her first class at Seattle Central College’s Wood Technology Center and loved it, leaving her wanting more.

She completed the Residential Construction program in 2024 and then became the teaching assistant in several of the Continuing Education classes at Seattle Central, including Basic Hands-On Home Repair and Maintenance, Residential Construction, Basic Carpentry and Woodworking, Woodworking – Level 1, and Woodworking – Level 2.

Outside of woodworking, Christina has master’s degrees in Special Education and Forensic Psychology and is Board Certified in Applied Behavior Analysis. She has been a clinician in the behavioral health field since 2006. She also spent several years combining her passion for boxing and youth engagement as executive director of a nonprofit that provided boxing training, academic support, and mentorship to Seattle youth. Christina currently works with caregivers of children with challenging behavior and learning differences, offering guidance on how to support their loved ones in home and community settings.

Christina is a lifelong learner and can’t find enough time to take all the classes that interest her. She loves to spend time with her family, especially mountain biking with her two sons and spouse. She enjoys partaking in any and all water or snow activities, relaxing in nature, boxing, gardening, and cooking. Christina spends much of her (very little) spare time adding to her list of home maintenance projects and occasionally crossing items off that list.

Teaching Style

Christina presents information in lecture and demonstration formats and offers students hands-on, individualized support and guidance as needed. She seeks to create a warm, welcoming, and encouraging atmosphere as students of diverse backgrounds come together to learn new skills.
