Jacob Taylor Mosquera

Jacob Taylor-Mosquera is an enthusiastic bilingual educator based in Seattle.

His academic background includes a BA in Global Studies and Spanish from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, an MA in Latin American Studies with an emphasis in public policy from Leiden University, Netherlands, and a certificate for the Rights of Refugees and Internally Displaced People (U.S./Netherlands).

His studies and volunteer work have taken him to Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Ecuador, The Netherlands, Chile and Germany, with short visits to seven other countries.

He has presented and lectured on transracial adoption, forced migration and U.S. foreign policy in Latin America, and taught Spanish locally.

When he is not teaching, Jacob is networking for his nonprofit, coaching soccer, and planning his next vacation.

Jacob's Teaching Style & Approach

Jacob aims to create a fun, engaging and respectful learning environment. He explains, "I approach my classes with passion and hopefully it rubs off on the students."

His classes tend to be a mix of lecture and student-centered activities. Jacob encourages group interaction and discussion, and uses visual aids, videos, games, hand-outs, poetry and short stories to create a dynamic classroom experience.
