Class Overview

Learn to dance flamenco in this fun class for teens! 

Explore the powerful art form of flamenco. Flamenco is made up of dance (called baile) along with music (cante) and we will focus on learning the dance. 

Flamenco dance is an excellent outlet for emotions and expression. This dance teaches students how to feel, understand and express their emotions. 

Learn how to move the hands, arms and feet in the flamenco style, and how to hear and feel the flamenco rhythms. This is good training for body awareness, and developing self-confidence. Learn how to express yourself with these techniques and embrace who you are. 

Learning Outcomes 

  • Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to: 
  • Develop body awareness 
  • Gain self-confidence
  • Understand basic concepts of flamenco 

Who Should Take This Class?

  • People ages 13-17, and all genders are welcome and encouraged to participate -- no dance experience is necessary.
  • Anyone in the age range who is interested in learning Flamenco dance 
  • Students with previous dance experience in other dance forms such as ballet, tap, jazz, African dance, etc. 
  • Anyone 13-17 years old who wants to explore an art form with a rich history
  • Students who enjoy music and/or movement
  • Youth who would like to gain body awareness and/or self-confidence
